1956 Chevrolet Impala was an experimental car representing the creative vision of Chevrolet and General Motors stylists and designers. The Impala was built up to be a fine passenger car design from the standpoint of sleekness, safety and luxury.
This 1956 Chevrolet Impala Dream Car was low and graceful in appearance and was powered by a 225 horsepower V-8 engine. It was going to have plenty of elegance, comfort and convenience. Chevrolet advertising claimed it to be “Tomorrow’s Motoring Adventure and Pleasure”.
The body was advertised as a shell of glass fiber reinforced plastic. It was going to have a panoramic windshield that was going to sweep over the drivers head. Racing type tires with distinctive white stripes were to be mounted on wire wheels with knock off hubs. The Impala was going to have a 116.5 inch wheelbase.

The five passenger interior is attractively executed in blue vinyl and fabric with bright metallic surfaces tinted in silver blue. Padded cornering bar of airfoil shape and a wide bright metal instrument cluster dominated the interior. The speed indicater on the dash lights up progressively more intense shades of red as higher speeds were attained. Paired at either side of the cluster face were generator, temperature, fuel and oil warning lights. Along with directional signals. The steering wheel had a wide padded single spoke outlined in bright metal. Tear drop heater outlets were at either end of the dash.
